Labor's Bookstore is pleased to announce a 90 minute webinar, "Tracking and monitoring persuader consultants and the employers who hire them" on January 28, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
This highly informative and timely webinar will be hosted by John Lund, PhD, author of "Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain", available at Labor's Bookstore. Lund is the former director of the Office of Labor-Management Standards of the US Department of Labor (2009-2013). OLMS enforces most provisions of the 1959 LMRDA which includes persuader reporting.
This webinar is free for anyone who has purchased the book. Please click the link below to purchase the book.
In this webinar, you'll learn when the persuader report must be filed, what it contains, how to use the information in an organizing campaign and what to do if it isn't filed or is incomplete. You'll also learn how to use the OLMS Public Disclosure website to download annual persuader reports (Form LM-21) and the annual report (Form LM-10) filed by employers who engage persuaders. The webinar will also cover additional reporting requirements for employers who are Federal contractors and engage persuaders.
Executive Director Bob Funk of the persuader watchdog organization LaborLab (laborlab.us) will also join the webinar to report on his group's activities and how they can provide additional technical assistance to unions and organizers.
About the Book:
The second edition, (Published in 2023), of Pay No Attention to that Man Behind the Curtain: Getting Information About “Persuader” Consultants and the Employers Who Hire Them captures the work being done by union researchers, organizers, journalists, and others since the first edition was published in 2022, as well as the work being done by OLMS. Filing and other data are updated, new research techniques are documented, and more examples provided along with a new spreadsheet template for crossmatching LM-10, -20 and -21 data with NLRB case activity docket information. Finally, a new chapter on employer unfair labor practice expenditure reporting has been added, with tips on how to gather the necessary documentation, and how both OLMS and the National Labor Relations Board can work together to improve reporting and disclosure of employer ULP expenditures.
